In Japanese, Polyporaceae means "Family of Monkey Stool" which comes from the situation of mushroom growing in the forest. Among Polyporaceae, there are so many kinds of species but Reishi is one of the most medicinal mushrooms.

As you see from the above, the Japanese & Chinese name of G. lucidum have both meaning of “Medicine” or “Medicinal” eventually, and also imply “Immortality mushroom“.

Of course we don’t want to all rely upon the legends or proverbs, in which however, there seems to have something effective to humankind’s life.
